The Woods Creek Placer is a twenty acre mineral property in the historic Mineral Point mining district of Ravalli county, Montana.
Featuring over 1200 feet of creek access, gold bearing gravel deposits, excellent access and a stunning location.
Gold had been discovered in the Mineral Point district before 1904, though mining was sporadic and mostly undocumented.
The Majority of the Gold located in Ravalli County was placer, with small amounts from the few lode mines in the area.
Production history shows the woods creek area worked during the 1970's though the deposits were likely discovered much earlier.
Located just below historic Gold and Copper mines such as the : Lucky Strike Shaft and the Woods Creek Copper Mine.
Primary workings consists of three substantially sized gravel bends off woods creek.
Gold values can be located in the gravel deposits of the Creekside, bedrock outcroppings and upper bench workings on the 150' level of the hillside.
Water flows annually with moderate flow, suitable for high-banker or dredging operations, as well as casual gold panning. Depth of the creek is between 1.5' to 6", width of creek is between 4' and 12'.
A large open staging area is present just off the forest service road. Suitable for multiple vehicles or campers, the site features a firepit area and easy creek access.
The secluded location is accessible during the warmer months by any standard 2wd vehicle, with snowmobile access between December and May.
