The Gold Morgan is a documented mineral property located in the historic confederate gulch mining district of western Montana.
Featuring one of few known lode deposits in a district labeled the single richest placer strike per acre on earth, underground workings driven into a mineralized vein of Gold-bearing ore, a secluded location, and excellent access.
Formerly known as the "rainbows-end mine", the Gold Morgan was mined for Gold during the Great Depression.
Post-war, the property ownership was transferred to the Stewart and Sullivan company, which then mined for Gold, Zinc, and Lead until the fuel crises of the 1980s.
Primary workings consist of a single adit driven at a 15-degree incline into the hillside. The vein is timbered and braced on the exterior and interior stopes of the deposit.
Estimated underground workings are over 350' in stock-work on a single level.
Standard gauge ore rail track is present in the mine from 1940s production.
The entrance is secured with an iron gate to prevent unauthorized access.
A mine spill in the estimated amount of over 1100 yards is located below the adit entrance.
Consisting of local limestone host rock and low-to-mid grade ore, the mine dump holds discarded values from a high grading production. Ore from the mine was carefully sorted, with only the highest quality ore shipping out via truck and ferry to the mills in Helena.
•The mineral deposit consists of a narrow mineralized vein of quartz, galena, auriferous pyrites, milling Gold, and base metals. Host rock is predominantly Newfoundland limestone.
Estimated ore values are: 0.55-to-1.65 OPT Au(Gold)• 3.5-to-9.00 OPT Ag(Silver).
A level parking and staging area is available near the mine face for 1-2 vehicles.
Access is via a well-maintained dirt road by most vehicle types during the warmer months.
Winter access is available for snowmobile and snowshoeing.
Located within 45 minutes of Helena Montana.
This beautiful producer in one of Montana’s most famous districts holds excellent potential for a small operation.
Available to the beginning enthusiast, ready for an established mining company.
