The Edres Mine is a documented Gold and Silver producer, located in the historic Hailey-Bellevue Mineral belt of Southern Idaho.
Featuring an open tunnel style mine with several hundred feet of underground workings, an extremely secluded location and great access for any 4x4 vehicle.
Likely discovered in the early 1890's, the Edres has history of small production through the 1920's and private ownership records through the 1970's.
Development is comprised of an open tunnel with several hundred feet of cross cuts and drifts, with a secondary caved tunnel face above the primary entrance.
The workings disclose a thrust zone up to 8 feet wide in quartz monzonite not far from its contact with the diorite.
Primary adit features a steel bat-gate, intended to bar wild animals and the general public from the underground workings.
A large lumber heap that was once a timbered entrance cover rests near the entrance.
The ore consists largely of argentiferous Galena, with much lesser pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, and tetrahedrite, in scant quartz gangue.
Nearby ore comp assays show Silver values of 66 ounces per ton with Gold values ranging between 0.13-0.25 ounces per ton.
Primary and secondary mine spills are located beneath the old tunnel faces. Mine spill is comprised of low-to-mid grade ore and country host rock.
Total mine spill is estimated at over 10,000 tons.
A level staging, parking and camping area is available near the primary entrance.
Access is via an old dirt mining road cut specifically for the Edres Mine, 4x4 vehicles or higher clearance 2wd vehicles are recommended.
An excellent mineral property for the beginning enthusiast up to an established mining company.
