The Dark Quarry is an un-documented mineral property in the Crystal Mountain mining district of Northern Colorado.
District is known for producing: Specimen grade tourmaline, beryl (aquamarine), topaz, epidote and Muscovite.
Formerly known as the Corral Pole Quarry, this mine was renowned for specimen grade tourmaline , Beryl( aquamarine) and Muscovite crystals during production in the 1960's.
Primary workings consist of a large open ceiling quarry, with a length of over 300', width of 45' and general depth of 20'.
Open haulage trails connect each side of the quarry for easy access to vein strike.
Deposit consists of a heavily mineralized quartz and feldspar deposit, with muscovite veins nearly 4" inches in width.
The Mine holds excellent potential for specimen grade deposits, highly sought after in local/national gem and mineral shows.
Multiple spill piles are located just below the mine entrance, with wooden cribbing retention walls. The Mine spill holds excellent potential for smaller specimens, overlooked by the past production.
Located off an well maintained dirt road, property offers parking for multiple vehicles between the road access and tree line.
An excellent location for the beginning enthusiast, up to an established mining company.
