The Crown King Mine is a completely undocumented mine in the Black Canyon Mining District of Arizona.
The district was known for rich deposits of Gold, Silver and Copper, production was very active from the early 1900's until the war act slowed all work to a halt.
With stunning view of the Bradshaw mountains, this secluded gem has excellent potential.
The stock work ore is a mixture of auriferous pyrites and galena, occurring in thin seams and to some extent disseminated through quartz veins that cut both the local schist and diorite.
Gold in the area ranges between 0.25-to- 2.62opt with silver values ranging 2.0-to-19.00 ounces per ton.
Primary workings consist of a skillfully cut decline shaft driven at 45 degrees, about 200 feet down to the level 1 drifts.
Main shaft entrance and decline is 8' tall by 5' wide.
Timbering is not present in the workings, the hard country rock is very stable with little sign of degradation.
Underground drifting follows the mineralized quartz veins on stable levels east and west.
Mine spill consists of graded blast rock and low to mid grade ore, high grade material was trucked out during production to a nearby Mill.
Accessible by Crown King road to an old dirt mining road with a functional fence gate.
Dirt road is suited for a higher clearance 2wd or any 4x4 vehicles, level camping and staging area is available on the hillside peak next to the mine.
Further exploration and work would be greatly aided by installing a new rope or ladder system for the decline access to the underground workings.
Mine spill can be tested and processed for values not recognized by past operations due to low precious metal prices.
A great mine for either the beginning enthusiast or established mining company.
- Access: Good condition dirt road for 4x4 vehicle access.
