The Calvert Mine is a documented mineral property with a history of Gold, Silver, Tungsten, and Gemstone production.
Formerly known as the "Calvert Red Buttons Mine", the property features over 4,000,000 yards of mineral-bearing mine spill, seven levels of the available virgin cut quarry wall, a spring-fed water source (testing free of contaminants), and excellent access.
The original discovery was in 1956 by the General Electric Co. The Calvert operated primarily as a Tungsten producer during ownership, producing necessary Tungsten ore for light bulb electrodes.
Small amounts of Gold and Silver are present in the oxide ore, assays show 0.3 OPT AU(Gold) and 0.6-1.25 OPT AG (Silver).
The Calvert produced over 110,000 tons of high-quality Tungsten ore during production.
After hitting a freshwater spring, the quarry flooded and stopped all operations during ownership in the 1980s.
From early production, workers noted the stunning green epidote, blue Beryl (aquamarine), and specimen-quality smoky quartz crystals, though company pay and resources were after the precious metals.
RMP, LLC acquired the property in 2021, with mineral surveys and assessments completed in early 2022.
Located in the Wise River mining district of Beaverhead County, within an hour's drive of Anaconda Montana.
Featuring excellent access off an older dirt road, suitable for higher clearance vehicles and all 4x4 types.
Open staging and camping areas are available near the mine for high-clearance campers.
The Calvert Mine is an excellent opportunity for a small mining company or a mineral enthusiast looking to extract high-grade specimens suitable for Gem and Mineral shows, as well as general sales.
