The Gold Springs Placer is a documented mineral property located in the Boulder mining district of western Montana.
Featuring dual waterways, alluvial Gold deposits, a secluded valley location, and excellent access.
Originally located before 1870 the Gold deposits on the Little Boulder River were mined from the Gravel bars, upper bench deposits, and bedrock outcroppings. During the early 1900s, Chinese miners began production on the famous "Chinese Diggings' placer mine on the southern end of Little Boulder river. From the end of WW2 -through- 1954 activity was on a small scale.
The district experienced a brief revival in the early 1970s, with small-scale placer operations and a few lode mines operating until the fuel crises of 1980. After nearly forty years of inactivity, the Springtime and nearby mines are once again ready for production.
Workings on the placer property consist of shallow pits and hand-dug trenches alongside the creek edge, production consisted of small rocker boxes and sluicing operations in the 1950s.
Dual waterways are present on this claim, with the north fork creek running as a feeder tributary into the Little Boulder river.
Local Gold is in the form of course flakes and fine dust, as eroded from the nearby lode outcroppings on the state divide. Larger nugget-sized Gold had been reported from past operations in the area.
The Gold Springs Placer features an excellent opportunity for a smaller-scale mining operation to utilize modern equipment for exponential Gold yields.
A small-scale high banking and dredging operation is recommended for this mine.
Parking and staging areas are located adjacent to the Creekside workings, near the shade of the pine forest.
Suitable for any vehicle type, with a level area for camper staging.
This stunning location is located 45 minutes from Helena Montana.
Available to the beginning enthusiast up to an established mining company.
